Terms of Service
Plain terms for a small tool. Last updated 2026-10-24.
The service
Cross Stitch Pattern Maker (crossstitchpatternmaker.org) is a website that turns photos and text into cross stitch patterns in your browser. Making, editing and downloading patterns is free. Project Pass and Pro are optional paid plans, described on the pricing page.
Patterns you make are yours
You may stitch, print, share, give away and sell the patterns you make here and the pieces you stitch from them, for personal or commercial use, free or paid plan alike. We claim no rights in them and ask for no credit.
You are responsible for having the right to use the photo or text you start from. A photo you took yourself is fine; a photo of someone else’s artwork, a character or a logo may need their permission before you sell patterns or pieces made from it.
Who sells it
Payments are handled by Waffo, which acts as the merchant of record. It is the seller on your receipt, processes the payment and handles sales tax or VAT. Its own terms apply to the checkout.
Your license
- Buying a paid plan gives you a license key (US$4.90 for 30 days or US$7.90/month or US$49/year). A one-time plan does not renew; a subscription renews until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.
- You may use it for personal and business purposes.
- One key works in up to 3 browsers or devices at the same time. The license is stored in each browser. Clicking “Remove license key” in a browser frees that slot. Please don’t share your key publicly.
- We may stop a key that has been published or is clearly being resold.
Cloud projects (Pro)
Cloud sync stores your patterns so you can open them in every browser activated with your Pro key. It is meant for your own patterns, not as general file storage: the tool accepts only its own project files and shows the storage limits when you reach them. When Pro ends without a refund, cloud projects stay read-only for 30 days and are then deleted; after a refund or a chargeback they are deleted at once. Keep your own copy of anything important by downloading the project file.
Colour data and estimates
Thread colours on screen are approximations of the real DMC threads, and skein counts are estimates that lean towards more. Check a shade card when the exact colour matters. The colour data is from craft-color-codes by MakeBead (CC BY 4.0); this site is not affiliated with or endorsed by DMC.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid, if any.
Refunds and privacy
See the refund policy (14 days, no questions asked) and the privacy policy.
